The role of the Educational Technologist goes beyond knowing pedagogical approaches to using technology to enhance the learning process. The ubiquitous nature of the internet in our social and cultural fabric now demands that a new level of digital literacy and citizenship be practiced by all online users. This literacy is understood through the reclamation of data control, active participation in and contributions to online networks. It is with this literacy that tools provide innovative solutions. It is with it’s individual citizens that the approaches and pedagogies are employed.

SITES.USASK.CA is a multi-site install of the WordPress platform that offers remix friendly tools for flexible, modern, and mashable curriculum design solutions beyond the LMS. This site provides a Directory of all Sites.Usask.Ca projects currently being undertaken.

PLSC 234 Student Developed Resource Site

As part of PLSC 234 students develop crop and weed profiles in organic farming as well as outlining management techniques. This open website showcases the work of the students and contributes to the online knowledge pool of organic farming.

Mobile Course Delivery System

A collaborative mobile app project between the Centre for Continuing & Distance Ed, Information Communications Technology, The Dept. of CompSci (Ubiquitous and Mobile Computing), and the Educational Technology and Design Program graduate program in the College of Education.

DOC Instructional Design Team

After developing a small forest worth of paper process documents, templates, and guidelines for working with the Instructional Design team at DOC we finally decided to put this information in an easy to access and update, website.

Virtual Worlds for Virtually Anyone: Educators in Second Life

As part of a research proposal into the use of Virtual Learning Environments in distance education I produced this Machinima Documentary and interviewed three Institutions using SecondLife in three different ways.
